Cacao Nib Protein Shake

Today’s post is for all my chocolate lovers and vegans & vegetarians out there who always get asked how they incorporate protein into their diet! Not all smoothies and shakes are created equal so it is our duty to share a healthy alternative to this classic drink! Some would debate that this is not a clean recipe but I believe if you’re going to have some chocolate this is the cleanest way to go about it! Try this recipe (guilt free!) for an afternoon snack, after a gym workout or take out the protein and have it as a dessert! 

Cacao Nib Protein Shake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Almond Milk Vanilla Unsweetened (Feel free to use Original/Plain almond milk or sweetened versions but I recommend the unsweetened vanilla!)
  • 1 Large Banana (Use a speckled one if you can, they are sweeter!)
  • 1 ½ -2 Medjool Dates (Soaked)
  • 1-2 Tablespoonds Cacao Nibs
  • 1 Teaspoon Cacao Powder
  • 1 scoop Sunwarrior Chocolate Protein Powder
  • Small Sliver of Coconut Meat
  • 2-3 Ice Cubes

*NOTE*: Another alternative to this recipe is using Original Unsweetened Hemp Milk, Cacao Nibs, Cacao Powder, Almond Butter, Banana, Sunwarrior Protein and Ice! You could use the same exact measurements as the list above for these ingredients! Both are very delicious and you can always try both! :)

Directions:

  • First soak your dates in warm to hot water to soften them up so they blend better. Soak them for a minute or two or until they feel very soft.
  • Now add all your ingredients into your blender and blend well! :)
